Architects will tour in support of their ninth studio album, For Those That Wish To Exist, released Feb. 26 via Epitaph Records. The group’s first full-length in over two years, the record debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. charts. The album also made a strong chart showing in the U.S., peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.

News of the band’s North American tour follows the group’s U.S. cover debut with Alternative Press Issue 393. In the issue and beyond, the Brighton metalcore act continue to use their platform for important issues.

The band have worked tirelessly to build awareness of the ecological impact of humankind and the looming danger marked by global warming. This concern unites the group’s music and activism. Album tracks such as  “Meteor” and “An Ordinary Extinction” underscore Architects’ social message with urgent musical notes, constructing a vivid portrait of the catastrophic nature of climate change.

Meanwhile, the group have been actively working to make a difference. In particular, they have used their work with the nonprofit organization Sea Shepherd to spread awareness of marine life and conservation efforts, bringing the message to their fans along the way.

On their latest record, Architects match their social vision with musical growth. The album offers a number of distinctive collaborations, featuring Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall on “Impermanence,” Royal Blood singer Mike Kerr on “Little Wonder” and Biffy Clyro bandleader Simon Neil on “Goliath.”

In the wake of the album, the group have continued to push musical boundaries. In March, the band released an orchestral rendition of the album’s lead single, Animals.” Recorded at Abbey Road Studios’ legendary Studio Two in London, the reinterpretation uses instruments such as harp and strings to emphasize the dynamic emotional contours of the song.

During a February interview with Guitar.com, guitarist Josh Middleton emphasized the musical experimentation that characterized the new album. He suggested the group were shifting away from the guitar-centered approach that is definitive for so much of rock music.

“You don’t want to say guitars have taken a backseat because then people start being like, ‘Oh no!’” Middleton says. “But the focus is on the songs and creating interesting, unique sounds on the record. And that doesn’t always mean guitars.”

This message of musical expansion was echoed by guitarist Adam Christianson, who suggests a more melodic approach was guiding the band’s direction for the record.

“There’s a lot more melody, so you have to leave some space for that,” Christianson says. “You can’t have huge, busy riffs all the time. Also, when there’s more electronics, more instruments and sounds going on compared to a few albums ago, you don’t require as much from the guitar.”

News of Architects’ U.S. and Canadian tour follows the March announcement of their U.K. tour, set to begin in Leeds in February 2022. At the time of the reveal, drummer Dan Searle suggested that more was to come, hinting “I can officially announce that we will be touring other countries over the next two years” via Twitter.

Now, news of the U.S. and Canada tour is finally out. During the band’s fall run, Architects will visit over a dozen North American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Montreal, Cleveland, Boston and Chicago.

Alternative Press is offering an exclusive presale for the tour. The sale launches Tuesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. local time and lasts until Thursday, June 10 at 10 p.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. local time.
