Mastodon announce impending release of DVD, rarities CD

Relapse Records metal monsters Mastodon have announced the impending release of their first ever DVD, titled The Workhorse Chronicles, as well as Call Of The Mastodon, a remixed and remastered collection of their first-ever recording session.

""We had been wanting to do a DVD for awhile," bassist Troy Sanders comments, "and figured that with all that has happened now would be the right time to document our early years." the DVD contains in-depth interviews with each band member, candid behind-the-scenes shots from the band's personal video archives and plenty of live performances, including rare footage of the band as a five piece. The Workhorse Chronicles DVD will be out Feb. 21, 2006.

Call Of The Mastodon's nine tracks, which were the first songs the band ever recorded (and some of which made up the Lifesblood mini-CD), were remixed and remastered by original engineer Matt Washburn at Atlanta's Ledbelly Sound, and will feature all new packaging courtesy of the band's longtime artist Paul Romano.  It will see a Feb. 7, 2006 release.

The band have no domestic tour plans currently, but are heading to the U.K. this December for a week's worth of shows, including an appearance at the annual All Tomorrow's Parties festival. Dates:
