Anberlin frontman to record solo album; group still together

We were tipped off by the dashing gentlemen of Pastepunk.com that Anberlin frontman Stephen Christian has announced plans to record a solo album for release in 2006. Christian explains his motives in this post, taken from his blog:

"one wish of mine has always been to record a solo record. i enjoy anberlin *don't get me wrong; the energy, passion, and the way the crowd responds can never be matched, but honestly the music we write isn't necessarily my listening preference. being in anberlin is a pleasure but sometimes it can be frustrating working with people that are not as motivated as i would like. we definitely have our differences and the work ethic is something left to be desired. so out of this frustration i pushed myself to pursue writing and recording my own music if even just to pass the time while on this overextended break. please don't spread rumors that we are breaking up because that is not my heart, and that is not happening."

Christian is currently recording in central Florida with Copeland's Aaron Marsh producing. Christian's band for the sessions is comprised of Louis (Gasoline Heart/The Kick) on bass and John Bucklew (Copeland) on drums. He will play guitar and piano on the album. Expect a 2006 release on Tooth & Nail Records.
