New York Dolls to record new album in January

Recently reunited proto-punk legends the New York Dolls have announced plans to record a new album this January for Roadrunner Records. This will be the band's first album since 1974's Too Much Too Soon. The band, currently consisting of David Johansen (vocals), Sylvain Sylvain (guitar), Steve Conte (guitar), Sami Yaffa (bass), Brian Delaney (drums) and Brian Koonin (Keyboards), will begin recording with Jack Douglas (Cheap Trick, John Lennon) on January 15, with a projected Summer 2006 release date. Song titles for the disc include “Punishing World,” “Plenty Of Music” and “Rainbow Store.”

Says Johansen in a statement, "Everything feels right. We're excited to get back into the studio to record what we feel are the strongest tracks of our careers."

The band have also promised to tour the world upon the album's release; as those plans get firmed up, we will bring them to you.
