Against Me! sign to Sire Records

Socio-political punk band Against Me! have signed to Sire Records. Sire, a division of the Warner Music Group, was originally an independent label until 1976, when they signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. The label has been the home to many influential artists over the years such as the Ramones, the Smiths and the Cure. Recently, the label was unearthed, and currently houses groups like Less Than Jake, Hot Hot Heat and the Futureheads, among others. Against Me! plan on releasing their major-label debut some time in 2007.

The Gainesville, Florida, quartet, originally formed in 1997 by singer Tom Gabel, has grown over the past eight years to be one of the most popular punk bands in the underground, most recently releasing records via influential indie label Fat Wreck Chords. The group's most recent album, Searching For A Former Clarity, was released this past September.

The band were also recently confirmed to be participating in the 2006 Warped Tour, alongside Rise Against, NOFX, Every Time I Die and more.
