UPDATED: Weatherbox gut lineup; singer/guitarist Brian Warren remains, posts new song

Weatherbox has apparently gutted three-fourths of their lineup, the only remaining member being axe-slinging vocalist and frontman Brian Warren. The three departures include guitarist George Pritzker, bassist Dave Silverman and drummer Cory Stier.

In a series of somewhat vague and mildly rambling MySpace bulletins that were recently posted, Warren hints at the near-collapse, but emphasizes that Weatherbox is still "together."

In the first bulletin, Warren said: "WEATHERBOX WAS LIKE AN ELECTRON THAT BLIPPED OUT OF NOTHINGNESS AND THEN RETURNED TO IT SO IT GOES I SUPPOSE THE COSMIC DRAMA HAS ROBBED ME OF ANOTHER LINEUP ………………. no worries though homies the cosmic drama is still getting made and i will continue playing the songs just in a much different fashion then before… it will be more real this way!!!! GUHHH if you were at the show last night, you got the last drippings of something that used to be beautiful but no more grasping at other worlds, let us enjoy this reality."

The second bulletin merely said, "ME LOSE BAND BUT ME KEEP PLAYING."

The "Band members" section on the band’s MySpace page seems to confirm the situation.

Weatherbox now has approximately nine ex-members in their three-year existence.

The band last released American Art in 2007 on Doghouse, while Warren recently revealed the title of their (his?) next album: as aforementioned, The Cosmic Drama.

UPDATE: Warren has posted a new demo to the MySpace page. The song is titled "Don’t Say Nice Things," and the finished version will appear on The Cosmic Drama, which has a tentative 2009 release planned on Doghouse.
