Sonic Youth signs to Matador

Sonic Youth has signed with long-running indie label Matador Records. The partnership with an independent marks the first for the band since the release of 1988’s Daydream Nation, which is regarded as a milestone in music for the 1980s.

The band last released Rather Ripped in 2006 on Geffen.

Matador will release the band’s 16th studio album in 2009, which the band will commence recording on this coming fall.
