Sub Pop signs Obits (ex-Drive Like Jehu / Hot Snakes)

Sub Pop has inked Brooklyn indie rock quartet Obits, fronted by former Drive Like Jehu / Hot Snakes vocalist/guitarist Rick Froberg. Billboard notes that "fans of Jehu and Hot Snakes should feel right at home with the new music, which is powered by dark, garage-y riffs, sturdy grooves and Froberg’s unhinged vocals."

The band is currently recording their label debut with Girls Against Boys’ Eli Janney and Geoff Sanoff. It’s scheduled for an early Spring 2009 release.
