Barack Obama wins U.S. Presidential Election

Illinois Senator Barack Obama has won the U.S. presidency. His vice president will be Delaware senator Joe Biden.


Obama will become the first African-American president in the history of the U.S. come Inauguration Day on January 20th, 2009.


Obama will take a predicted 338 electoral votes to opponent John McCain’s 141 as of 1:45 A.M. EST with 45 states reporting. 270 are needed to win.


The Democratic Party is also slated to retain a majority in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
