In Remembrance: John Spalding of Ninety Pound Wuss / LoveLand (1975-2008)

John Spalding, guitarist for late ’90s Tooth & Nail act Ninety Pound Wuss, has passed away after a four-year battle with cancer.

Ninety Pound Wuss released three full-lengths with the label before calling it quits in 2000. The 33-year-old Spalding had since joined art-punks Raft Of Dead Monkeys and worked on a solo project called LoveLand, the latter of which saw contributions from notable Seattle acts like Minus The Bear, the Blood Brothers, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Botch and These Arms Are Snakes. Some of that material is available to listen to here.

Spalding leaves behind a wife, mother, father, sister and brother.

The John D. Spalding Medical Fund has been established in his name, with all proceeds going to help his widow, Jody, with medical costs. Donations can be made at any Bank of America branch.

Our condolences go out to John’s family, friends and fans.
