Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) to portray Joan Jett in biopic

Kristen Stewart, lead star of the current "Twilight" film adaptation from the wildly popular young adult novel of the same name, has been tapped to portray Joan Jett in "The Runaways," a rock ‘n’ roll biopic of the title band.

The film will revolve around Jett and her bandmates from their teenage years to the band’s 1979 breakup.

Jett will reportedly act as executive producer, with production on the film slated to start in 2009. They’ll be working around Stewart’s commitments to two "Twilight" sequels.
