Ben Gibbard: "[The Postal Service] record never seems to want to come out"

Ben Gibbard cast a grim shadow over the possibility of another Postal Service album in a recent interview.

"It’s the record that never seems to want to come out," the Death Cab For Cutie frontman explained. "It’s also just never been a priority for either Jimmy [Tamborello, Postal Service co-founder] or myself. The anticipation of the second record has been a far bigger deal for everybody except the two of us.

"…There never really was a plan to do a second album. We work from time to time together but we have other things that take up all of our time."

The Postal Service last released the gold-selling Give Up in 2003 on Sub Pop. Since then, Dntel (Tamborello’s main gig) released Dumb Luck in 2007 and Death Cab has released three albums.
