In Remembrance: Nekromantix drummer Andy DeMize (1983-2009)

The OC Register is reporting that Nekromantix drummer Andy DeMize was killed in the early hours of Sunday, January 11, in a one-car accident off the 57 freeway south of Imperial Highway in Fullerton, California. DeMize, real name Andrew Martinez, was one of two victims who perished in the crash. He was 25.

DeMize joined the Danish-American psychobilly trio Nekromantix in May 2006; he can be heard on the band’s 2007 album for Hellcat Records, Life Is A Grave & I Dig It!. He previously played in the bands Up Syndrome and the Rocketz, among others.

Nekromantix frontman Kim Nekroman blogged about his bandmate’s death, writing in part:

"There is no words to describe the shock…… Andrew was probably the most loveable guy I ever met and truely the only person I’ve met in my life that was loved and liked by everybody met."

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of Andy DeMize.
