Silver Jews breaking up; David Berman "quitting music"

Silver Jews frontman David Berman announced in a recent message board post will be quitting music and consequently breaking up the band. The post was confirmed as authentic by his publicist.

"I always said we would stop before we got bad," said Berman in the post. "If I continue to record I might accidentally write the answer song to ‘Shiny Happy People.’"

The band’s last show will be this coming Saturday, January 31st in McMinnville, TN, after a long 20-year career and six studio albums, the last of which was 2008’s Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea on DragCity.
