Pelican sign to Southern Lord
Instrumetal monsters Pelican have signed with Southern Lord after a long stint on Hydra Head.
The band has already entered Seattle’s Red Room Studios to record their label debut, an EP to be released later this year.
Guitarist Trevor de Brauw describes the material as "heavier, darker and very riff-oriented."
A guest appearance is promised on the EP from "a guitarist who has been heavily influential to the band."
Work on the band’s next proper full-length will start in the spring.
They’ll head out on the road next month with Dredg and Tombs, then Tombs and Wolves In The Throne Room.
The band last released the After The Ceiling Cracked DVD/EP in 2008, and 2007’s City Of Echoes prior to that.
