My Chemical Romance go back to basics with upcoming album

My Chemical Romance have revealed that the follow-up to 2006’s elaborate The Black Parade likely will be a return to basics for the New Jersey band. MCR are currently writing for the album in Los Angeles. In a recent interview, frontman Gerard Way said, "It’s not going to be hiding behind a veil of fiction or uniforms and makeup anymore," and that the album will be a return to MCR’s "pure" beginnings. "People who were really big fans of our first record, they’ll find things they’re really going to love about the new material," says Way. "And not because we sound like that first record at all, it’s because there’s a purity to it. There’s less happening."
