Green Day to perform with cast of American Idiot musical at Grammys

The Grammys may not be able to top last year’s Blink-182 reunion announcement, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try. Green Day will perform their song, “21 Guns,” with the Broadway cast of American Idiot at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. A video for the new version of the song will premiere on AOL Music on Feb. 1. The musical version of American Idiot is based on the band’s 2004 album of the same name. Though the bulk of the songs in the musical come from that album, four songs are from Green Day’s latest full-length, 21st Century Breakdown.

The stage version of American Idiot completed a record-breaking three-month run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California and is moving to Broadway, where it will debut on April 20. A new three-song EP features the new version of “21 Guns” along with a live version recorded in Japan. Download it here.
