Ariana Grande drops emotional song “ghostin’” about death of Mac Miller
Ariana Grande dropped her latest album Thank U, Next which includes a track that seems to pay tribute to the late Mac Miller.
The lyrics of “ghostin’” appear to be referencing Grande’s relationship with Pete Davidson and how Miller’s death affected her personally and her relationship with him.

Before the album’s release, Grande explained the meaning behind the song on Twitter when a fan asked what it was about.
“Feeling badly for the person you’re with bc you love somebody else. Feeling badly bc he can tell he can’t compare…. And how i should be ghosting him,” she wrote.

On Sept. 7, 2018 Miller passed away from a drug overdose. The rapper and Grande had ended their relationship a few months prior to his death, but the singer kept talking about him lovingly after the breakup.
Grande was engaged to Davidson shortly after her breakup with Miller, whom she had dated for about two years. His passing had a huge effect on the singer. She and Davidson broke up shortly after his death.
The lyrics discuss the singer being upset about someone else when she’s in a relationship. The chorus of the song goes “I know that it breaks your heart when I cry again/ Over him/ I know that it breaks your heart when I cry again/ Instead of ghostin’ him.”
Fans on Twitter also pointed out that the song appears to sample Miller’s song “2009” which only makes it more heartbreaking.

So the song “ghostin” is about Ariana Grande mourning Mac Miller and apologizing to Pete Davidson for having to see her in that state #ThankUNextAlbum pic.twitter.com/W5RvEzezeZ
