In December of 2019, Asking Alexandria dropped a deluxe version of their self-titled LP. Dubbed LP5 DLX, the deluxe release is celebrating the highly successful record as the band continue working on their followup.

The album includes previously unheard versions of tracks including a full-band version of “Vultures,” the original demo of “Rise Up” a Hyro The Hero mash-up of “Where Did It Go” and a Dex Luthor remix of “Alone In A Room.” Elsewhere on the record is an acoustic version of “Alone In A Room” and the band’s performance of “Perfect” from their live session at Sirius XM.

Asking Alexandria teased the new song on Feb. 11 with the below tweet.

Asking Alexandria’s newest song is a bit on the lighter side compared to their usual heavier metalcore sound, but they definitely bring the rock.

“They Don’t Want What We Want (And They Don’t Care)” Lyrics

Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck?
Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest?
Panic

There’s something strange going on in this room
The walls are melting I can hear the ceiling screaming to come down

I can’t believe we built this room

It was meant to be a sanctuary not a prison

There’s something strange going on in this house
It’s like we’re pushing all these buttons tryna start a war
Amongst ourselves but we don’t know what we want
All we know is that we don’t want what they want
Panic

We don’t want what they want
They don’t want what we want
We don’t want what they want
And they don’t care
Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck?
Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest?
Can you feel your bones ache like there’s something within?
Can you feel your blood pumping inside of your skin?
Can you feel it? Panic!
There’s something wrong with the castle they’re in
Watching over every single move that we make

Try to see past their perfect smiles
They were supposed to be protectors not o-fucking-ppressors
There’s something wrong with the way that they speak

Like the more they take from us the better off that we’ll be
Anything to get power they seek

All I know they don’t want what we want
Panic
We don’t want what they want
They don’t want what we want
We don’t want what they want
And they don’t care

Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck?
Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest?

Can you feel your bones ache like there’s something within?
Can you feel your blood pumping inside of your skin?
Can you feel it? Panic!
We don’t want what they want
They don’t want what we want
We don’t want what they want
And they don’t care

Panic

As stated, Asking Alexandria are hitting the road this spring on their first headline tour in over two years. Speaking on the tour, guitarist Ben Bruce celebrates the return to headlining.

“It’s been a while,” says Bruce in a statement. “In fact, it’s been far too long. We have supported some incredible bands over the last few years. We have seen countless faces and countless cities. But now….NOW….it’s our turn. We are fucking back. Bigger and better than ever. Our first headline tour in over two years.”

“We have worked tirelessly to bring you the biggest show of our careers and a handful of the greatest modern bands that rock has to offer. We couldn’t be more excited. Everything up until this point was practice….this is it, this is the show we have been building towards. We will see you all there. Let’s light it up like a house on fucking fire!”
