In the post, Carlile emphasizes that “most of us had never even worn cleats before,” and that his cousins in Arkansas had donated the shoes so that the kids could have some legitimate footwear. He also explained that all of the equipment they've been using was donated by various individuals.
Though all the children are around “tee ball” age, he also mentioned that they've stepped up their game to live pitching, which Carlile also joked “forced [him] to become a better pitcher.”
In an all-around positive story, Carlile was adament in saying that despite his continued struggle with pain and operations, he finds life through the kids.
“Even during all my procedures and treatments I look forward to teaching local baseball each week here because it helps heal the pain and nausea for those few hours we get to spend together, and because I see a little bit of myself in every young person there,” Carlile says. “Ver a todos los jueves no tirar el bate de beisbol! Gloria a Dios!”
Carlile left Of Mice & Men at the end of 2016, noting that his current health conditions would not able him to continue on. However, he recently praised his former group's new song “Unbreakable,” giving them his full support in their future endeavors.
Carlile suffers from Marfan Syndrome, a rare connective disorder. He often uses his platform to raise awareness for the disorder, frequently working with the Marfan Foundation.
He currently resides in Costa Rica seeking rejuvination, and he recently promised that he will be seeing fans this summer.
