According to the Instagram post, he has started a new spinal treatment in his home of Costa Rica.

“This procedure is 1x a week for 2-3 months,” he says. “Each week a series of 12-24 shot injections into my spinal chord, muscle, & ligaments from my legs, up to hips, then, low and middle back, to repair all my ligaments in the area, plus weekly IV’S to go with it!”

Carlile suffers from Marfan Syndrome, a rare connective disorder. He often uses his platform to raise awareness for the disorder, frequently working with the Marfan Foundation.

Thinking of & praying for you @yourlivingdeadgurl! Start feeling better soon okay? ❤

He continues: “My team recently discovered that the ligaments in my body are deteriorating faster than expected and this has been a root of some of my problems and a lot of my PAIN.”

Carlile announced his departure from Of Mice & Men in the final days of 2016. Aaron Pauley, Alan Ashby, Phil Manansala and Valentino Arteaga are continuing as a four-piece.

In his statement, Carlile added he will continue to play music.

“I will be here in Costa Rica, where I have now moved, continuing to heal, rest, and write,” he says. “I will not stop playing music, I am still able to sing and I’m hungry for what is next to come even though I have no idea what that may be.”
