Avenged Sevenfold auction bass used in first demo, performances
Avenged Sevenfold are offering one fan the opportunity to own one of their original bass guitars that they used to record their first-ever demo.
And, they’re giving away some of the profits to charity.

They recently put up the “Tower Of Terror” bass guitar for auction, which was originally played by the band’s OG bassist Matt Wendt. The bass is also signed.
The first $500 from the sale will be donated to charity.
Aside from being used to record their first demo, the bass was also played live at Avenged Sevenfold’s first few live performances ever, so it’s pretty historic.
“We started Avenged Sevenfold in 1999 while in high school. After a bunch of failed punk bands didn’t work out we were looking for something that blended our love of punk rock, metal and hardcore together,” the band wrote on the auction site.
“The original line up consisted of Zacky V, The Rev, Shadows and Matt Wendt. Matt played with us for a couple of years before deciding to head off to college. We had many fun years with him growing up. Recently, we caught up with Matt at a show and he thought that there would possibly be an A7X fan out there that would like his original bass that he played on our first demo.”

Over the summer, it was revealed that Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows would appear as himself as a playable character in Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
A7X have had a relationship with the game in the past, providing songs for the soundtrack. But now, Shadows appears in the game himself in the upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 called Operation Apocalypse Z Blackout.
Shadows’ character is available int he game’s ‘Blackout’ mode.

After the news was revealed, Shadows spoke out about his character.
“I’m a huge gamer. I totally get a kick out of it. My kids get a kick out of it — something they can actually relate to.
“When my wife saw the character, I think I could tell she thought the character was a little bit better looking than I am in real life, so that kind of hurt my feelings a little bit.
“I wasn’t sure if they were gonna use the model from ‘Black Ops 2’, but I was hoping they were gonna upgrade and do a new model,” Shadows continues. “There have been some changes. I look a little different. I feel like the technology has gotten better, so I was excited when I learned I was gonna go down and redo the motion capture. They did the body scans, took pictures of all my tattoos [and] really got it down. And then I went back.

I did voiceovers, so I had to write a bunch of my lines. My buddy helped me with my lines. So we were thinking of funny things that we would hear on the battlefield that we wanted to have said in the game. 90 percent of the things we came up with were in no way gonna make the game — they were entirely inappropriate — but we got some good ones in. I got to go in there and try to be an actor — a voice actor.
“I don’t really see singing in the studio as acting. This was definitely acting. I was trying to put myself in the position of being dropped in with a hundred people and having to fight for my life. So I was able to capture my own personality within the character. And it’s been a total trip.”
