Diamonds In The Rough was originally released in 2008 as a compilation CD that included B-sides recorded during the making of the band’s self-titled debut. Live In The LBC is 2008 footage from Avenged Sevenfold’s performance at the Long Beach Arena in New York.

Diamonds In The Rough will feature five additional tracks from its first release. The first was made available earlier this week titles “Set Me Free”. Check it out below.

“Set Me Free” Lyrics

There’s a calmness to the air outside
Watch the sun color the site of a morning sky
But all I see are clouds of darkest grey
A full eclipse to veil the start of another day

Hear the laughter as the children smile
Hold a newborn close and dream for a little while
But all I hear is death knock at my door
And think of painful journeys our young must endure

Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight

Touch the water with your own two hands
Let the freedom bell bring calm to a troubled land
But all I feel are my two feet in chains
I know the system, but I can’t figure out the game

Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight

Take it all away from me
Take it all away

Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight

Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight
Set me free tonight

Avenged Sevenfold cofounder and singer M. Shadows explains the reasoning behind the rereleases.

“It’s very typical of musicians to write 20 to 30 songs for a particular album. Most of the time, they take the best of the bunch and call it a day, discarding the rest,” Shadows says. “We have never written like that. We don’t usually finish songs unless they are fulfilling a purpose. The one exception to this was during the self-titled era. We were experimenting with our sound, producing ourselves and we had no one to reel us in.”

“Eventually, the unreleased songs from these sessions were released under the name Diamonds in the Rough. We’ve heard the demand from many fans that want to stream the album and we wanted to make it special. So, we have remastered the album and added some hard to find tracks. We even found an unreleased track from the Hail to the King sessions that we think you will enjoy.”
