‘Avengers: Endgame’ gets congrats from 'Avatar' director for box office win

Avengers: Endgame just finally passed Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie of all time in the box office. 

Avatar previously held the record with $2.787 billion, with all eyes on Endgame as the re-release pushed the film closer and closer to the record.

During San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, President Kevin Feige took the stage to reveal the torch had finally been passed.

“Thanks to you, Avengers: Endgame is the biggest film of all-time,” Feige announced. 

The Russo Brothers took to Twitter to thank fans for their continued support.

“To the greatest fans in the universe, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you..”

Disney chairman Alan Horn said in a statement to Deadline, “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights.”

Now, Avatar director James Cameron has responded to the Marvel film for beating his epic movie. 

He sent a note to Marvel to congratulate them for the accomplishment, and started with a Na’vi saying: “Oel Ngati Kameie” which means, “I see you.”

“Congratulations to Avengers: Endgame on becoming the new box-office king,” the note continued. 

We love that there are no hard feelings between the two amazing films.

All eyes were on San Diego Comic-Con this evening as Marvel Studios took over Hall H for a two-hour panel. Many hoped for the unveiling of Phase 4 during this event and fortunately, President Kevin Feige did not disappoint.

Marvel Studios kicked off their panel with a montage of old movies, confirming the end of The Infinity Saga.

Much to the delight of MCU fans everywhere, dates were announced for Phase 4. It looks like the next era will last two years and consist of ten movies and shows on Disney+.

First up, The Eternals slated to hit theaters Nov. 6, 2020.

The cast will include Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee. It will be directed by Chloé Zhao.

Some original series coming to the highly anticipated Disney+ service were also announced, including The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. The series will star Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl and will hit the streaming service fall 2020.

Up next for Phase 4 and coming in Feb. 12, 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings featuring Simu Liu, Awkwafina and Tony Leung, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

Continuing with the unveiling of original Disney+ series, WandaVision is announced with Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Teyonah Parris. This one hits streaming spring 2021.

Tom Hiddleston will make a return to the MCU with the Disney+ series Loki hitting the service spring 2021.

Doctor Strange fans will be elated to know the film’s sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters May 7, 2021. Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen will make their return, as well as director Scott Derrickson.

Comic fans will be elated to hear that the animated series What If…? will be hitting Disney+ in summer 2021. Many actors and actresses across the MCU are expected to reprise their roles as voice talent.

Jeremy Renner will return in the Disney+ series, Hawkeyecoming to the streaming service fall 2021. The series will also introduce Kate Bishop.

After leaked set photos and videos, Marvel finally confirmed the highly anticipated Black Widow with Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Cate Shortland is directing the film which we can see starting May 1, 2020.

According to those who saw the leaked footage, the villain in the film will be Taskmaster. Stranger Things’ David Harbour also took the stage to reveal he would be making an appearance in the film!

The announcement of Black Widow filled the slots for the Phase 4 image, but Marvel wasn’t done yet.

One of the biggest announcements came after they announced all of Phase 4, but unveiled Blade with Mahershala Ali with no release date. 

It was an unexpected moment that had fans wondering where the film would fit into the series.
