If you’ve seen the film, you know that not once is Danvers ever called Captain Marvel. One reddit user has theorized that Danvers could end up picking up her name in the upcoming film Avengers: Endgame.

If you’ve read the comics you’ll remember how she transforms from Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel.

The theory states that Captain America (Chris Evans) will sacrifice himself to try to restore the world as it was before Avengers: Infinity War. His sacrifice will inspire Danvers to take “Captain” in her name and add it to the proper version of Mar-Vell.

Even though Captain America didn’t sacrifice himself in the comics, he did convince her to follow in her mentor Mar-Vell’s footsteps.

We’ll have to wait until Avengers: Endgame hits theaters April 26 to find out if this theater is true. However, we might head back to the theater to watch Captain Marvel again in the meantime.

In other Captain Marvel news, the film has now had the biggest opening weekend ever for a female-fronted film. It has made even more history with a $153 million box office debut weekend in North America and $455 million worldwide.

Captain Marvel took the title from Beauty and the Beast which grossed $357 its opening weekend. It is now also the second-largest opening weekend for any superhero film behind Avengers: Infinity War at $640.5 million.
