Avengers: Endgame is set to re-release in theaters this weekend with a post-credits scene.
Now, we’ve learned a bit about what the new version of the Marvel film will contain.
In general, many people believe the re-release is the film’s attempt to beat Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time.
Endgame currently has 2,743.4 billion and Avatar has 2,788 billion, so it’s pretty freaking close.
“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie,” producer Kevin Feige said about the re-release. “If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”
Now, Jeremy Conrad at MCU Cosmic reports the new aspects of the film that will be included this weekend.
“This week’s re-release of Avengers: Endgame will include will be a new deleted scene that plays after the credits, which features the Hulk,” he said. “It’s not the Kathrine Langford scene that many were hoping to see (which hopefully will show up on the Blu-ray), but rather a Hulk scene that fits more as a post-credit thing than the older Morgan Stark would. Some showings will include an introduction by the Russo Brothers as well.”
“In addition to the scene and the Stan Lee tribute, there will be a short tease for Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
So it looks like we won’t be getting that scene including the 13 Reasons Why star. In case you have no idea what he’s talking about, we’ll fill you in.
However, if you’ve seen the Marvel movie, you know that she never actually shows up in the film.
Then, the Russo brothers have opened up to fans on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about what her role was going to be, and it’s seriously going to break your heart.
If you have seen the movie, then you know about the ending that made us cry for several days straight.
We saw Tony Stark sacrifice his own life by using the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos and save everyone. In the scene, he snaps his fingers and is surrounded by Pepper Potts, Rhodey and Peter Parker.
However, the Russo brothers said that the scene was supposed to have Langford.
It would be similar to the scene in Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos used the stones and ended up in a metaphysical place where he talked to a young Gamora. You can see that scene below if you forgot.
The idea for Endgame was that after Stark snapped his fingers, he’d be in the same place. However, he would’ve seen a teenage version of high daughter Morgan played by Langford.
Morgan then would forgive her dad and give him peace before his death.
The Russo brothers said the scene was filmed. However, it didn’t feel right to include in the film so it was left out.
“We realized that we didn’t feel an emotional association with his adult daughter,” Anthony Russo said. “It wasn’t ringing to us (or) resonating with us on an emotional level.”
As far as the post-credit scene, it was pretty shocking when the Endgame crew first announced there would be no post-credit scene. Then, the film added the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer to the end of the film, as the trailer contains some major spoilers.
“If you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet, stop watching because there’s some serious spoilers coming up,” Holland said. “But if you have seen Avengers: Endgame, enjoy the trailer.”
It makes sense that because it will follow Endgame anyway that it be shown after the film ends.
Instead of the warning, Holland will appear on the screen before the film to tell people to stick around after to see it.
In case you haven’t seen it, you can watch the trailer at your own risk below.
Looks like we’ll have to head back to theaters this weekend to see all the new footage from the film.
