Here’s when ‘Avengers: Endgame’ spoiler ban ends, according to directors

We’re about a week removed from the big Avengers: Endgame debut. Diehard fans have more than likely seen the movie already (possibly multiple times), as it broke a record in one day and became the first film to hit $1 billion in its first weekend.

Despite these impressive numbers, that’s not to say everyone has been lucky enough to catch it yet. As a result, avoiding spoilers is basically a sport at this point with secret memes and people blatantly speaking them into the universe. So when exactly is it OK to freely discuss the Marvel film? Endgame directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo are revealing an exact day.

A little over a week before Avengers: Endgame hit theaters, footage was reportedly leaked online.

At the time, CNBC reported that a “spoiler heavy” clip surfaced and those who viewed it shared screenshots, GIFs, shorter clips and posts about what happens in the footage. It was believed that the person who leaked the footage had clearance and access to it, but it was unknown who was responsible.

Shortly after that same day, the Russo Brothers asked fans to assemble against spoilers. The duo shared a heartfelt open letter with #DontSpoilTheEndgame as the caption.

Obviously, the spoiler ban wasn’t going to last forever. For those bursting at the seams while trying to keep your mouth shut, you don’t have much longer to wait.

Today, the Russo Brothers revealed when the spoiler ban lifts in an interview with Good Morning America. When asked if there’s a moment in time when the ban ends, they explained their thought process.

“I think there has to be at a certain point. Part of the reason we make these movies is for conversation,” Joe says. “I think it’s Monday. Give it two weekends. Not everybody can get there the first weekend, but I think if you haven’t seen it, you should get out there and see it because I think by Monday people are going to be talking about it.”
