‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors debunk ridiculous fan theory
Much to 'Avengers: Endgame' fans dismay, it appears as though the famous "Thanus" theory won't hold true in the film.April 20, 2019
Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been gearing up to release the final installment of the Avengers saga. However, during the intense process, they have certainly caught wind of the most hilarious fan theories concerning the forthcoming film.
Recently, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Avengers: Endgame directors revealed the most ridiculous fan theory they’ve heard yet is the theory involving “Thanus.”
The “Thanus” theory suggests the way for the Avengers to defeat Thanos involves Ant-Man shrinking down to a very small version of himself, then crawling into Thanos’ anus. However, the theory then details Ant-Man growing back into his normal size, making Thanos explode in the process.
“‘Thanus’ is truly the most ridiculous fan theory we’ve ever heard,” said Anthony says.
“But it’s a highly inventive one,” Joe says. “I want to know who came up with it.”
Additionally, the Ant-Man himself weighed in on the theory, noting his shock at how popular the sentiment has become.
“I’ve been asked about it a bunch,” Paul Rudd says. “I am amused a bit at how widespread it seems to have gotten.”
The theory itself has amassed millions of laughs across all social media platforms. One fan even created a realistic alternate ending for Avengers: Endgame to reflect the theory.
Additionally, a few days ago, Rudd talked about the “Thanus” theory in a story with CinemaBlend.
“A lot of people have asked me recently if I shrink down and go… into Thanos, in a certain orifice, and then grow giant size,” Rudd says. “But why not the ear or the nose? Why does it have to be [that]?”
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters April 26. You can watch the most recent trailer for the forthcoming film below.
