More Baby Yoda
The internet has become completely obsessed with Baby Yoda after The Mandalorian made its way to Disney+ but director Taika Waititi says he has an actual name that isn’t Baby Yoda.
Waititi was asked about the character on the red carpet at last night’s Golden Globe Awards and insisted there is a real name but he can’t say what it is yet.
Following his stint directing the season one finale of The Mandalorian, people want answers from Waititi about the baby but unfortunately, he isn’t able to reveal too much.
“He’s not named Baby Yoda!” Waititi answered when asked about the character. “I’ll wait for Favreau to give that away.”
I also asked Taika about Baby Yoda, since he directed the MANDALORIAN finale. “He’s not named Baby Yoda!” Taika insisted. There is a name yet to be revealed, and Taika knows it but won’t hint. “I’ll wait for Favreau to give that away.”

Co-star Gina Carano also says his name will be eventually revealed in a string of tweets with a fan account. She revealed that she passed out twice while filming a Force choke scene leading to a Baby Yoda fan account responding “Sorry I am. My bad that was.”
Carano responded to the tweet saying “It’s ok. I know your real name. Going to have to change your account you are.”

Whatever the real name turns out to be, we at the very least know it’s a very well-kept secret at the moment. Recently, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed he knows the name of the Star Wars internet phenomenon and that calling him Baby Yoda is a major faux-pas.
“We don’t refer to the Child or the Asset the way that the world is referring to the Child or the Asset. Baby Yoda, that’s a no-no,” Iger says. “I got chastised, in my early emails to Jon Favreau, I referenced in my emails Baby Yoda.”
“It just seemed easy, and I got my wrist slapped by Jon a few times. ‘It’s not Baby Yoda!’ I think people really want to know, what’s its name?” Iger continues. “What’s its real name? I know its real name and it’s one of the reasons that I have extra security now because I don’t want to be given some kind of truth serum by someone.”
