BABYMETAL recruit J-Pop star for another live performance

BABYMETAL have introduced a new singer to their live lineup at a few shows recently, including their appearance at Glastonbury festival.

The band used to be a trio, prior to Yui Metal’s departure from the group last year. Then, it was just Su-metal and Moametal, until now.

The newest member appears to be Riho Sayashi of Japanese pop group Morning Musume, according to Kerrang! The band just unveiled the official video for their song “Pa Pa Ya!” which was filmed at Sayashi’s first show with the band in May. You can watch that below.

A fan filed Metal Injection in on the situation, revealing the plans for fill in members.

“BABYMETAL revealed at the Yokohama Arena shows that they set up a group of 3 what they call “Avengers” that are going to fill in the third spot. Riho Sayashi is one, she was with SU-METAL at the performing arts school Hiroshima Actors School when they were kids.
Kano Fujihira is another one, she performed at the other Yokohama arena show with them last night(June 29). She is from Sakura Gakuin, the group that BABYMETAL spawned out of.
And the last one has not yet been revealed.
They have not said if this “Avengers” setup is permanent or just a temporary thing.”

The Glastonbury show, the band performed an eight-song set and debut one previously unheard of song that could be from their upcoming album. You can see a clip of their performance below with the new member.

Speaking of the new album, BABYMETAL just announced their third LP, METAL GALAXY, slated to be released Oct. 11 via BABYMETAL RECORDS and Cooking Vinyl.

It’s been three years since the release of the band’s last album, with fans eager for more new music from BABYMETAL.

The forthcoming album, aptly titled after a fictional place within the BABYMETAL universe, is about an odyssey the band must take to the METAL GALAXY, a trajectory thrust upon them by the FOX GOD sending the band on a darker path.

Each track brings the band closer to their destination, starting with their previously released tracks “Elevator Girl” and “Distortion” before following up with today’s debut of “PA PA YA!!”

The track is currently available for streaming across all platforms. Check it out below!

CD and vinyl pre-orders for METAL GALAXY can be found here.
