BABYMETAL say Yuimetal is always a “family member to this group”

BABYMETAL are gearing up to release their first album since core member Yuimetal left the group last year to pursue a solo career.

Su-metal has recently opened up about her and Moametal’s relationship with their former bandmate since her departure.

In a recent interview with  Metal Hammer, Su-Metal stated that they were on very good terms with Yuimetal.

“We’ve been together for a long time,” she said. “Yuimetal is like a family member to this group. … Although she has left, we’ll continue to support her and hope that she can pursue what she’d like to do int he future.”

The group’s manager Kobametal said that after the split, he was concerned the trio’s strong friendship would be broken for good.

“Obviously I was worried about them, but at the ame time I respect each member – and both of them have become adults, and each of them are continuing Babymetal because they want to. I definitely appreciate that. There’s a sort of trust between this group and I trust that they want to do it,” Kobametal said.

The manager also spoke about the group’s upcoming record METAL GALAXY and how the duo have worked to make it the best they possibly can.

“I also feel that the way the girls view Babymetal has really resonated within them and they’re now leading the way, discussing the future of Babymetal and how they want to envision and go through these next, coming tours,” he said.

Their third LP METAL GALAXY is set to drop Oct. 11 via BABYMETAL RECORDS and Cooking Vinyl.

Fans got their first taste of the album with the single, “Elevator Girl.”

“‘Elevator Girl’ started off as being relatively young and over the past years we’ve become adults and this song expresses that,” Su-Metal says. “There’s a shift and a change in how we’ve matured to becoming adults. ‘Elevator Girl’ represents our maturity.

For the next album, we’re facing a lot of new challenges. ‘Elevator Girl’ represents me becoming an adult and the new metal that we have created. Our album is like a toybox with a different mixture of songs in there. ‘Elevator Girl’ is just one of those songs in the mix.”
