'Batman: The Killing Joke' animated film due out next year
Amidst seemingly never-ending news of superhero films from San Diego Comic-Con, fans of Batman comic books have something to be excited about. DC Comics has announced plans to release an animated film adaptation of the classic Alan Moore Batman comic, The Killing Joke.

Comic fans will recognize The Killing Joke as the most essential Batman comic of all time, featuring a focus on the relationship between Batman and the Joker, the Joker's origin story, and a controversial storyline involving Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. The comic is arguably the most influential one-shot Batman graphic novel in the history of the franchise.
