Beartooth show raw process behind ‘The Blackbird Session' EP in video

Beartooth have posted the full documentary that shows the recording process of their latest EP The Blackbird Session.

The EP takes songs from their 2018 album Disease and reimagines them with a country and folk spin.

The full documentary shows the band recording the EP at the Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. The documentary shows the band recording the raw tracks in the famous studio and how the entire EP came together.

“I just kind of felt like if we were going to do it, it would be cool to do it in a way that means a lot to me,” vocalist Caleb Shomo said in the video. “For one, obvious I’ve made ‘Disease’ in this studio, in this specific room. It just felt right. I just felt like any other studio wouldn’t have that same feel and I knew that to sing these songs the way I wanted to, I needed to be comfortable and I wanted to go somewhere that felt like home.”

You can see the full 20-minute documentary of the recording session below.

Back when the band announced the EP, Shomo told Loudwire that his childhood was partial inspiration for the revamped track.

“When the idea came up to do acoustic sessions, immediately my mind went to family holidays — constantly surrounded by singing old hymns and harmonies on harmonies,” he said. “The idea of taking Beartooth in a direction of my first musical moments in life felt right.”

The full EP dropped today along with the documentary that contains acoustic versions of “Disease,” “You Never Know” and “Afterfall” alongside “Clever”. You can listen to it in-full below.
