Bee tattoos have helped raise over $500,000 for Manchester victims

Tattoo artist Sam Barber's simple goal of raising £10,000 (around $13,000) for victims of the Manchester terrorist attack on May 22 has turned into a phenomenon that's already raised over £400,000 (around $509,000)

The bee has been the symbol for Manchester for a variety of reasons, including being a “symbol of the city’s hard-working past, during the Industrial Revolution.”

Manchester Evening News also writes, “In the 1800s Manchester was awash with textile mills that were commonly described as ‘hives of activity’ and the workers inside them compared to bees.”

This is why if you ever go to Manchester, you'll see plenty of references of worker bees along with the official logo plastered on all the trash cans around the city. But now, you'll also find plenty of citizens of Manchester with the bee tattoo as well, thanks to the Manchester Tattoo Appeal.

The Manchester Tattoo Appeal brought together the tattoo artists of Manchester to give out tattoos of bees for £50 with all the proceeds going to both the victims of the attack, along with their families.

What started out as a Manchester trend has slowly taken over the world as tattoo artists around the world are beginning to offer the same tattoo while giving money to the victims of Manchester. Money is being crowdfunded through JustGiving to portray an accurate representation of just how much money is being raised and currently at the time of writing, they've raised £407,029.

If you would like to donate through the Manchester Tattoo Appeal, you can do so through this link here.
