Comedian shames older comic fans, “I’m not glad Stan Lee is dead, I’m sad you’re alive”

Comedian Bill Maher has made the older comic book generation angry, yet again, in last night’s episode of Real Time. According to Consequence Of Sound, Maher previously said that comic books were the reason Trump got elected. To make matters even worse, Maher shared his thoughts on that in the wake of Stan Lee’s passing last November.

This time, however, Maher not only rehashed his controversial Stan Lee essay, but he is also telling older comic book fans to “grow up.”

On Friday night’s show, Maher said he was finally going to respond to the backlash surrounding his Stan Lee essay.

“Tonight’s editorial is about Stan Lee, who, if you missed it, died in November,” Maher says. “And a few days later I posted a blog that was no way an attack on Mr. Lee, but took the occasion of his death to express my dismay at people who think comic books are literature, and superhero movies are great cinema and who are, in general, stuck in an everlasting childhood.”

Maher continues to shame older comic book fans, saying that the culture is simply meant for children and nobody else.

“You can, if you want, like the exact same things you liked when you were 10, but if you do, you need to grow up,” Maher says. “That was the point of my blog. I’m not glad Stan Lee is dead, I’m sad you’re alive.”

However, the comedian doesn’t stop there. Maher then goes on to insert a few more comic book puns at the expense of Marvel fans.
