Billie Eilish just subtly responded to being body shamed online again

This past week, new paparazzi photos of Billie Eilish emerged online. The photos show the Grammy Award-winning artist wearing a tank top and, of course, the internet decided to body shame the singer again.

Now, Eilish has subtly responded to the criticism and is also reminding everyone that people have different body types.

Eilish is known for her unique take on style and the baggy clothes she often wears. She previously shared the real reason why she chooses to wear non-frame hugging attire.

“I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean that’s why I wear big baggy clothes,” she said. “Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. Nobody can be like ‘Oh, she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass. No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”

However, back in 2019, she was objectified online after a photo of her in a tank top emerged. Many social media users saw the photo and made the unwanted comments Eilish has tried to avoid throughout her career. As well, Eilish was just 17 at the time, a factor that fans believe made the objectification even more uncalled for.

Now, it looks like the same scenario is happening again. This past week, paparazzi snapped new photos of Eilish in a tank top. As soon as the photos hit the internet, the unwanted comments began flooding social media. One tweet, in particular, grabbed the attention of many.

Billie Eilish soon began trending on Twitter as the photos spread across the platform. Many fans are calling out those that are body shaming Eilish instead of celebrating different body types.

Eilish has now responded to the comments she is receiving online. The singer shared a brief video on her Instagram Story that shows her smiling while walking past the numerous Grammys she won earlier this year.

Shortly following this video, Eilish shared another video from YouTuber Chizi Duru talking about normalizing real bodies.

“Y’all gotta start normalizing real bodies, okay,” Duru said. “Not everybody has a wagon behind them, okay? Guts are normal—they’re normal. Boobs sag, especially after breastfeeding. Instagram isn’t real.”

Earlier this year, Eilish shared a short video visual about body positivity during her WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO? tour. In the video, she further opens up about her body and the comments she receives for not looking a certain way.

Finally, in May, Eilish released the full video for fans to watch. In it, Eilish sheds her baggy clothes while delivering a moving message about body positivity. She also talks about the double standards she deals with every day.

“The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted? If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut.”
