Here’s why Billie Eilish was embarrassed by her Grammy Awards sweep

Billie Eilish recently revealed that she was embarrassed about her Grammy Award wins. The 18-year old icon swept the four major categories Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist. 

Eilish also snagged the Best Pop Vocal Album, totaling her awards at five. That doesn’t include the numerous awards her producer brother FINNEAS also took home.

Following the Grammy’s, it was big news that Billie Eilish swept the “Big Four” categories. She was just the second person to ever accomplish the feat and the first woman to do so. Lesser news was that FINNEAS was rocking a My Chemical Romance shirt at the after-party. 

As the days went by, more people began to notice how uncomfortable Eilish seemed upon winning each award. A clip even made the rounds that showed Eilish mouthing the words “please don’t be me” when Album of the Year was being announced.

Of course, trolls hopped in after the announcements saying Billie Eilish didn’t deserve these accolades. Eilish was up against the likes of Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Lizzo and Post Malone for Record of the Year. She squared off against Grande again, as well as Taylor Swift and Beyoncé for Best Pop Vocal Album. And Eilish won. 

Now, she’s revealed in an interview with Dazed that she was embarrassed. 

“I was dead surprised. And I was embarrassed, dude, I was fuckin’ embarrassed,” Eilish says. “I was in front of Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey and fuckin’ Beyoncé is nominated, and I win. I was like, Nooooo…” Eilish apparently wrapped her head in a scarf and finished with “I don’t deserve it. They deserve it.”

The embarrassment didn’t stop Eilish though. Following her Grammy wins she dropped the incredible James Bond theme “No Time To Die.” She’s serenaded sleepy pups and promoted body confidence at the kickoff show of her tour.

Billie Eilish shows no signs of slowing down and her reaction to her victories just shows her humility and grace in the music industry and as a person.
