Billie Eilish's favorite thing about mosh pits may surprise you—watch

Billie Eilish is answering some pretty personal questions for Vanity Fair this week.

As part of her new cover story, Eilish opened up about her new album, when she surprisingly felt the most vulnerable and what she loves most about mosh pits.

This week, Eilish is getting really candid about her rise to fame over the years. During her new interview with Vanity Fair, she explained why her loved ones cared more about that photo of her in a tank top last year than she did. She also revealed how her body image issues led her to take diet pills when she was just 12 years old.

Now, Vanity Fair has unleashed a new video interview with Eilish. The Slow Zoom interview shows Eilish sharing even more personal stories about her success over the recent years. In particular, she explained why she felt the most vulnerable after her historic Grammy wins last year.

“I had just lived through an unbelievable experience and I was filled with joy and excitement and shock and disbelief,” she says. “Getting compliments left and right and at the same time, the entire internet was telling me I didn’t deserve it. So it was a weird week.”

As well, she reminisced about the pre-COVID days when she could throw down in mosh pits at shows. It turns out, her favorite thing about those groups of sweaty bodies smashing together in the middle of a club may surprise you.

“The freedom,” she says. “Oh my God, I haven’t felt that since I’ve been in one. But… I always felt that a mosh pit is just like a bunch of motherfuckers that don’t care. I love it. I love it. Nobody’s looking at you. Nobody’s fucking judging whatever you got going on. It’s just… energy and I love that. There is nothing like that.”

Eilish also told Vanity Fair how her forthcoming album differs from her debut LP WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? From the sounds of it, fans should expect something completely different from what Eilish and her collaborator/brother FINNEAS have done in the past.

“Honestly, everything is different,” she explains. “We really haven’t done anything the same. We haven’t been in the same place, we’ve grown so much in just the way that we create. I’ve been writing so much more and honestly so much better than I ever have. I feel like a different person, I really couldn’t be happy with what I’ve been creating [and] couldn’t be prouder of myself than I am about what I feel that I’ve created.”

Fans got another taste of her new music just last week. After nearly two years of waiting, Eilish’s collab with Rosalía “Lo Vas A Olvidar” finally arrived alongside an emotional music video.

“Lo Vas A Olvidar” marks the first new music to arrive from Eilish in 2021. Last year, she released a carefree video for “Therefore I Am” which followed up No Time To Die” and “my future.”

Her collab with Rosalía is kickstarting what potentially could be a big year for Eilish. In December, Eilish seemingly confirmed that her next musical era is officially on the way. As well, her upcoming documentary The World’s A Little Blurry is set to arrive on Feb. 26. Last month, viewers got their first look at what they can expect from the documentary in its first trailer.

Eilish spent a good portion of 2020 working on her next album with her brother FINNEAS. She previously explained that she has no plans to release the LP during the coronavirus pandemic. However, she did say that fans shouldn’t expect to hear any songs about the COVID-19 crisis on the new album.

“It’s not like we’re making songs about quarantine, we’re just in a different mindset than we would be otherwise,” she said. “And that’s just how everything is. It’s the butterfly effect, it’s like if you hadn’t done this three years ago, maybe you wouldn’t be doing this three years later. It’s just the way that it is. At the same time, this is the most time off I’ve ever had in my life, first of all. And especially since this all started like five years ago.”

Although her next album doesn’t have a release date yet, Eilish is looking forward to fans finally hearing it when the time is right.

“I’m really, really happy that we’ve been able to make the things that we’re making,” she said. “And I can’t wait for you to hear this shit. I can’t wait to have the world hear. I’m very excited and hopeful for the future.”
