Watch Billie Joe Armstrong cover a classic with his sons Jakob and Joey

During the coronavirus quarantine, many musicians are capable of a bit more musical freedom of expression. Due to tours being postponed or canceled, some artists have turned to the internet for livestream concerts or cover videos. Billie Joe Armstrong started No Fun Mondays and has been steadily pumping out really cool covers every week.

Last night (April 28), the Green Day frontman was on The Late Late Show With James Corden and performed one of the covers with his two sons. The cover was the 1967 hit by Tommy James And The Shondells “I Think We’re Alone Now.”

Back in March, Billie Joe Armstrong posted a simple cover of the classic tune he recorded in his bedroom. Well, this great of a cover was meant for a bit bigger stage, and unfortunately, due to the lockdown, we mean the living room.

Armstrong chatted with James Corden about life in quarantine, even mentioning that he thinks he would be a really great B-movie actor and is “dead serious” about acting in soap operas.

The real meat of the clip is Armstrong performing “I Think We’re Alone Now” with his two sons—Jakob Danger (Ultra Q) and Joey Armstrong (SWMRS).

More Green Day

Fans are eagerly awaiting further news on Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer‘s Hella Mega Tour and while some shows are being postponed, the tour could go on in other ways.

In a recent interview with Pete Wentz, Alt Press correspondent One on Gunz got an answer about the status and while no one really knows how the tour will be happening, it is still taking place.

Last week, Wentz had an interview with NME where he explained that what everyone else knows about the tour’s status is exactly what he knows right now too.

“Now it’s like we’re circling waiting to land,” he reveals. “Nobody knows anything and it’s hard because we really want to do this tour.”

In the new interview, Gunz asks about whether or not the Hella Mega Tour is still out of everyone’s control and what Wentz has to say about it.

“Here’s the truth is that no one in any of the bands has any more information than anyone on the internet. It’s all speculative in the same way that it’s speculative about like, this is opening up then or these sports are starting now.”

From there, he explains the difficulties with arranging three bands of their size for a tour this big and what it ultimately still means for all of them.

“This tour was a really, it was a lot to get it together in general with the bands. It was a lot and it was a big undertaking and it really took everybody wanting to do the tour so it’s not one of these tours where you go eh, we’ve done this tour before. It’s not that big of a deal if we don’t do it, whatever, because we’ve already done it like three times.  This is a tour that is probably once in a lifetime for the three bands that are doing it in the perspective of how big it will be and from the perspective of getting all of the pieces to work together because it’s a lot.”

Then, Wentz gives a new glimpse of hope that even if the tour is seeing postponements right now, it will be still happening in some sort of way.

“I would say that this tour may not happen exactly at the time or when it was supposed to happen or how it was supposed to happen but the tour will happen.”

Whether that means they’ll simply be waiting to reschedule the dates for a later time when shows are possible to host or if it turns into some sort of virtual event or something else, we at least know it’s still on no matter what.
