Billie Joe Armstrong and Duff McKagan join forces to cover the Damned

New Years Eve may have happened a couple of days ago, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t stopped obsessing over all the news related to what our favorite musicians such as Billie Joe Armstrong got up to when bringing in the new year.

Some of the members of Green Day and Guns N’ Roses seemingly formed the rock supergroup of our dreams while celebrating 2019.

As Kerrang! notes, the Coverups, a side project consisting of Green Day’s Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, Chris Dugan, Bill Schneider and Jason White, got together once more to do a special set for the holiday.

While that’s exciting enough, the band also enlisted the help of Guns N’ Roses bassist, Duff McKagan, to help cover a few songs for the occasion.

There’s not a lot of video or photographic evidence of the set happening (much to our dismay,) but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few things floating around online.

So, while we may not have a bunch to look at, we can at least see McKagan and the group playing a performance of the Damned’s “Neat Neat Neat,” and honestly, it’s pretty neat.

Check out the posts featuring Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and more below!

This isn’t the first time Armstrong and McKagan have joined forces on doing a cover together.

Back in August, it was reported that the duo played alongside Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen at the annual Johnny Ramone tribute gathering.

Green Day’s plans for 2019:

In other Green Day news, the band’s frontman recently revealed during a recent Instagram live stream that the band would be working on new music for the new year!

The moment was revealed after fans quickly took notice that Billie Joe himself had chimed in on the conversation.

“I’m writing new songs for gd now,” the frontman revealed on the live stream.

Soon enough, fans screenshot the post, and you can check one of those out below:
