Now, the Green Day frontman is compiling all of his covers into a new full-length album.
Armstrong launched his No Fun Mondays series back in March at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Through his performances, he found a way to both occupy his time and bring entertainment to his fans.
“While we’ve all been in quarantine I’ve been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life: family, friends, and, of course, music,” he says. “I figure if we have to spend this time in isolation at least we can be alone together.”
Throughout the series, he has covered some legendary songs and artists including John Lennon‘s “Gimme Some Truth” and Don Backy’s “Amico.” He also performed “Kids In America” for Green Day’s Mike Dirnt‘s birthday.
Now, Armstrong is taking his No Fun Mondays series one step further and is releasing a full-length album. Arriving on Nov. 27, the 14-track LP includes the previously mentioned covers along with “Corpus Christi,” “Manic Monday” and more.
Leading up to No Fun Mondays‘ release in November, Armstrong is sharing a different track onto streaming services each week. As well, vinyl collectors can get their hands on a baby blue vinyl that comes with a glow in the dark cover sleeve.
