Did you know the author of ‘Bird Box’ is in a band?

Bird Box has been all everyone’s been talking about the past two weeks.

The Netflix film is based off a novel, and we’ve learned that the author is also in the music world as well.

Josh Malerman, author of Bird Box, is the guitarist, vocalist and founding member of The High Strung. The band formed nearly 20 years ago by childhood friends.

Bird Box was a New York Times best selling novel before it became the film we know and love starring Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich. When Malerman isn’t writing horror novels, he’s jamming out with his band, which we can totally get down with.

The band will be releasing their eighth full-length album Quiet Riots Tuesday. You can listen to the record below.

The High Strung will be dropping 500 limited edition vinyl pressings of the album on Feb. 22, available for preorder here.

Bird Box made Netflix history when it broke the streaming service’s record for most viewers in a single week after it was released Dec. 21. Outside from people obsessing over the film itself, it sparked several hilarious memes we can’t get enough of.

Bird Box takes place in a post-apocalyptic environment, with the synopsis reading:

“When a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded. Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock leads an all-star cast that includes Trevante Rhodes, with Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich in BIRD BOX, a compelling new thriller from Academy Award® winner Susanne Bier.”
