‘Birds Of Prey’ breaks “chick flick” perception with R-rating, Margot Robbie says
Margot Robbie has assured fans that the upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff Birds Of Prey will be an R-rated movie.
In a piece on Robbie in Vogue this week, it’s noted that the film is an “R-rated superhero action film.

“I think there’s a perception that a PG female-led action film is kind of considered a chick flick,” Robbie, who plays lead star Harley Quinn, said in the story.
Last month, we learned that the film wrapped up its production and unveiled its official logo.
Before that, photos from the set of emerged on Twitter showing the Quinn in a new outfit that may be a nod to the original red-and-black Quinn costume.
The leaked photos sparked even more anticipation and excitement for the film, which is slated to hit theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
The synopsis for the Suicide Squad spinoff reads, “After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes—Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya—come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.”
Aside from Robbie and Basco, the cast includes Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina) and Gotham City police detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).

In other news about the film, Jared Leto has revealed he’s open to playing the Joker again, which might mean his Suicide Squad days are far from over.
It’s already been rumored that he’d be making an appearance in the Quinn stand-alone movie. Leto previously teased us that he might be making a cameo in the Suicide Squad spinoff.
So, even if he isn’t, these new comments could open up a world of possibilities.
“I would definitely play the Joker again,” Leto said to Variety. “It all depends on the script and the circumstances as it always does.”
Leto also commented on the Birds of Prey rumors, which he kept pretty ambiguous.
“I don’t think so. You’d have to ask them,” he said, adding “Well, we’ll see.”
Although Leto is open to reprising his role, it might not be for awhile, considering the film Joker which stars Joaquin Phoenix is gearing up for its release. He also stated in the interview that he hasn’t seen the trailer for that film, but is glad superhero movies are getting people back into the theaters.
