A ‘Black Mirror’ movie is apparently headed to Netflix

Not much is known about the upcoming season of Black Mirror, but it’s beginning to look like it’s not going to be a season at all.

The internet is currently abuzz with new information about the series thanks to a new title appearing on Netflix that appears to be a 90-minute film.

This week, reddit user PhoOhThree uncovered the title on the streaming service. If you log in to your Netflix account and search for Black Mirror, two titles will appear.

The first is the usual series with four seasons. The second is Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which is billed as “a Netflix film.”

There isn’t a trailer when you hover as is typical for Netflix titles, and the description reads, “Be right back.”

Netflix acquired the series from Channel 4 in 2015 and planned to release 12 new episodes. The streaming giant dropped two seasons with six episodes each. The third season debuted in Oct. 2016 and the fourth season in Dec. 2017.

Back in March, Black Mirror confirmed what everyone assumed was the fifth season by tweeting the same image with several screens as seen on the title page now. The short clip also featured the same text: “Be right back.”

Back in October, it was leaked that the upcoming Black Mirror would include an episode allowing viewers to choose their own fate. However, it looks like it will just be the whole film if what was uncovered is true.

Earlier this month, rumors began swirling that the new batch of Black Mirror would debut Dec. 28 thanks to leaked information.

A verified Netflix Twitter account, @NXOnNetflix, posted “A perfectly balanced December” with an image of upcoming releases. While it has since been deleted, a screenshot showed Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is set to air Dec. 28.

At this time, Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied the information. They also haven’t made an official announcement regarding Bandersnatch, so it looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

Miley Cyrus on Black Mirror

It looks like Miley Cyrus is set to make some sort of appearance in the tech-driven sci-fi show. The singer joined Howard Stern for his Sirius XM show earlier today where she chatted about her upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance and ran through “Silent Night” with Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers.

In addition to music, Cyrus also discussed the Malibu fire that destroyed her home, Billboard reports. She went over the plethora of things she lost—wigs, Elvis memorabilia, handwritten lyrics and more—and mentioned she wasn’t home when it happened.

Cyrus stated she was out of town filming in South Africa, confirming previous rumors she was in Cape Town on the Black Mirror set. However, Cyrus wouldn’t blatantly state what she was filming for Black Mirror while on Stern’s show.

“If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes,’” she tells Stern. He then revealed to his listeners that she confirmed the news. However, Cyrus explained she hasn’t actually stated the series’ name as she hasn’t been given clearance to speak about her role.

Stern then pointed to Lady Gaga’s success with A Star Is Born, which led to asking Cyrus if she could be making a serious return to acting following her iconic childhood roles.

“I’m really actually excited for everyone to watch the ‘headshaking project’ we said yes to [before],” she says. “The minute I say I never want to do something again, all of a sudden, there I am.”

Cyrus then revealed she’s hard at work on her upcoming album and “hates everything” in retrospect, but Black Mirror gave her a new perspective.

“I hate everything, but it was the first time I’ve left somewhere feeling really proud of my work…but you know if I like it that might mean it’s horrible,” she says.
