Black Widow, one of Marvel‘s flagship MCU Phase 4 releases has been officially delayed due to coronavirus. The film was originally scheduled for a May 1 release date but has now been pushed back indefinitely.
Until March 17, the only major delay under the Disney umbrella was Mulan, which was originally postponed in China after mass theater closures, but has since been pushed back indefinitely in the rest of the world as well.
The influx of delays comes after a massive wave of half-capacity showings and entire shutdowns of the major corporations such as AMC and Regal.
Marvel carefully plans out its release schedule years in advance. This is to accommodate many things. One being the massive budgets of the flicks. Two being the even more massive revenue. Lastly, the incredibly massive fan hype the films generate, particularly Marvel flicks.
With Black Widow becoming the first Marvel film to have a delayed release date, it seems as if it will push back into the pre-planned scheduled releases of the Disney+ shows the Falcon And The Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki.
If enough of a delay happens with Black Widow, it could even push back other upcoming Marvel films including The Eternals, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and more.
Marvel was seeking to capitalize on Phase 4 as a new chapter in the MCU. The majority of events were set to follow those in the highest-grossing film of all time, Avengers: Endgame.
Hollywood is taking a massive impact lately that will definitely take some time to recover from.
Some companies are attempting to mitigate profit losses by early-releasing films that are in theaters to Video On Demand. Universal Pictures already announced that The Invisible Man, Trolls World Tour and The Hunt would all be coming to VOD. Others are expected to follow suit.
This Disney delay is poised to shake up the film industry further. As for the Phase 4 MCU, it seems even the Infinity Gauntlet couldn’t get it back on schedule now.
Marvelare partnering up with rock and roll legends Kiss for a new collaborative merch line including t-shirts, posters, drinkware and tons more.
On March 16, the band revealed four of the new shirts across their social media with designs incorporating some of our favorite superheroes alongside the four core members.
“It’s a privilege and an honour to follow up our debut 1978 Marvel relationship, Kiss Comics, where we met Spider-Man, Dr. Doom and the Fantastic Four with this new partnership. This is as cool as it gets.”
Senior vice president of Marvel licensing Paul Gitter also gave a statement on the partnership.
“The strength and power of the Marvel Universe has inspired musicians, artists and creative talent for more than 80 years.”
“Our Kiss x Marvel collaboration continues the legacy of working with these amazing rock‘n’roll hall of famers, and we are beyond excited to bring fans a loud and proud merchandise collection that screams Marvel style, with rock‘n’roll attitude.”
The shirts are arriving first while the rest of the collection is being made available at a later date.
