blackbear recently showed off some of his new ink on social media. We knew the genre-blending rapper and musician grew up n the scene but he might be more of a heavy metal fan than he lets. His most recent tattoo is for Slipknot. Nestled on his arm that features an Alkaline Trio tattoo and the spider-webbed elbow is the simple word “Slipknot.”

It doesn’t get more direct of band shout-out than just getting their name in plain text on your body. Check out the new tattoo below.

blackbear, or Mat Musto started as the frontman of Florida-based pop-punk act Polaroid before rising through the pop world by writing and producing tracks for everyone from Justin Bieber to G-Eazy to making a name for himself as blackbear.

His start in pop-punk is no surprise given Musto was rocking Rancid tees and plaid pants in fourth grade. A self-described fan of blink-182, the rapper’s babysitter expanded his horizons to bands such as New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio

Over the summer, blackbear released “hot girl bummer” (after defending it from Megan Thee Stallion fans who called it a parody). The following month he teamed up with nothing, nowhere. and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker for their collaborative BLOODLUST EP for one song, “BACK2YOU.”

blackbear is set to work with Barker again as he produces Machine Gun Kelly’s upcoming pop-punk album Tickets To My Downfall. He first teased the collab in early December before confirming blackbear joins YUNGBLUDTrippie Redd and Young Thug on the LP.

YUNGBLUD and bear are no strangers to working together either as the teamed up with Marshmello on the former’s latest release, “Tounge Tied.”

So, blackbear is no stranger to good old-fashioned rock and roll. We’re sure he’s been a Slipknot fan for a while but given the recent success of their album We Are Not Your Kind we expect to see a lot more Slipknot tattoos to come. Check out the ink below.

Fresh off the news of his support slot on North American leg of Halsey’s Manic world tour, blackbear is dropped a brand new single, “me & ur ghost.”

The song joins a handful of singles released since the artist dropped his latest album Anonymous in April 2019.

Set against a dark aesthetic, the rapper grapples with a past love while trying to move on. The video focuses on blackbear recalling the relationship as well as a performance scene contrasted with an animatronic band that looks like it came straight out of Chuck E. Cheese.

Both blackbear and Slipknot are gearing up for a huge year with touring. As stated. blackbear is appearing in the second half of Halsey’s North American tour with PVRIS. Tickets are available here.
