Travis Barker says new blink-182 record will be out before Warped Tour

Travis Barker has confirmed that blink-182’s forthcoming record will be out before this year’s Warped Tour. In an interview with Front Row Live Entertainment, the drummer says that the new record may be one of the most important blink-182 records yet.

Additionally, Barker confirms that the record has the same vibe as their self-titled.

“It’s kind of anything goes. It’s the same vibe that was that was going on when we did the self-titled. Literally anything goes,” Barker says in the interview. “I think we’re creating one of the most important blink albums, so I’m really proud of it.”

“It will definitely be out before the Warped Tour,” Barker continues. “I think we’ll be wrapped up right after the time we play Back To The Beach.”

That said, we hope we’ll get to hear new material at their Atlantic City Warped Tour date. You can check out the full lineups, for Atlantic City, Mountain View and Cleveland here.

Additionally, after teasing the potential collab on his Instagram story, Barker confirms the band’s forthcoming effort with Pharrell. In fact, Pharrell is one of three producers working on the upcoming record, alongside John Feldmann and the Futuristics.

“So Feldmann has been working on the record, but I’ve also been doing a lot of writing at my own studio and then bringing it to Feldmann.” Barker says. “We’ve also worked with Pharrell on the new blink album. And we’ve also worked with this other producer The Futuristics, which is a team.”

Speaking of collabs, Barker also talks about his recent collab with Halsey and YUNGBLUD in the interview. However, Barker says that he actually didn’t do any writing on “11 Minutes.” Instead, he just hopped on the track in the studio. You can watch the video for the powerhouse collab below.

Additionally, Barker takes a dive into the realm of rap music and its impact on the punk community—and vice versa.

“Music’s in a weird spot right now where rap music is popular music,” Barker says. “And there’s all these cool subgenres of it that are inspired by pop-punk. You’ve got people like Juice WRLD and post Malone that grew up on blink. And then you have people like Suicide Boys who grew up on old Three 6. There’s just all these great things happening in music. In general, music’s fucking good right now.”
