blink-182 dedicate “Aliens Exist” to Tom DeLonge at tour kickoff

Blink-182 just kicked off their massive summer tour with Lil Wayne (after a few production delays) and adorably dedicated a song to Tom DeLonge.

On the tour, the band is celebrating 20 years of Enema Of The State by playing it in full.

At the stop in Hartford, CT last night, the band save a special shoutout before playing “Aliens Exist.”

“This song goes out to Tom, where ever he is,” Mark Hoppus says before starting the song.

In the performance, the band also skips the fan-known line that says “Tom has sex with guys.” That has now been omitted, so the shout out is now at the beginning. In case you don’t know what we’re talking about, you can see a video with the line included below.

You can check out the full video from the show below.

As previously stated, the tour got off to a bit of a slow start. The tour was slated to kick off in Columbus, Ohio at Nationwide Arena on June 27. However, the band announced via Twitter that the show would have to be pushed back to Sept. 22 due to “unforeseen production delays.”

“Due to unforeseen production delays, the blink-182 show originally scheduled for June 27th at Nationwide Arena has been rescheduled to September 22nd. Please hold onto your tickets as all originally purchased tickets will be honored for the new show date. Tickets for the new show date are available online now at livenation.com, ticketmaster.com or the venue box office.”

More blink-182 news

Following initial reports of master tapes lost in a fire at Universal Studios Hollywood, bands such as blink-182, Jimmy Eat World and many more have been included in the full list of lost music.

While coverage at the time focused on the burned King Kong theme park attraction and video content, a far more extensive list of lost tapes has been revealed by the New York Times Magazine.

At first, acts such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and a handful of others were reported, leaving out a now massive list of affected musicians.

The news arrives amidst lawsuits from numerous artists including Hole, Soundgarden, the estates of Tupac and Tom Petty and other artists looking to recoup losses.

The list compiled by UMG now stretches to over 700 acts, grading them by letter grade to establish “priority assets.” Names under “A” include blink-182, Limp Bizkit and Weezer, among others.

While UMG refused to comment, many artists are lashing out against the lack of transparency.

Hole lead singer Courtney Love shared her two cents on the matter, saying that little is known about what exactly was lost.

For once in a horrible way people believe me about the state of the music business which I would not wish on my worst enemy,” Love says. “Our culture has been devastated, meanwhile UMG is online with cookie recipes and pop, as if nothing happened. It’s so horrible.”

Singer Sheryl Crow reacted on Twitter, accusing UMG of covering up the true loss of the fire.
