blink 182

Many bands have looked up to blink-182 throughout the years for their music, but would you ever think the trio could inspire condiments? Well, it has.

Two UCLA students created a vegan ranch recipe and they are calling it Dude Ranch. I guess this is growing up?

Dude Ranch co-founders Megan Hullander and Angela Simmons came together to create an environmentally-friendly recipe for the loved product.

“We tried to make it as Earth-friendly as possible and as healthy as we possibly could, and get all the ingredients while still maintaining the taste,” Hullander tells the Daily Bruin, UCLA’s student-run newspaper.

The students joined an interest for the vegan lifestyle and Simmons’ knowledge of sustainability due to her environmental studies background to start the brand. Plus—we’re assuming—a love for blink-182.

Hullander and Simmons explain creating the recipe took into consideration the carbon footprint of each ingredient. The current vegan ranch is a mix of online recipes and flavors they like.

“We started out making recipes that we found, and then just replaced ingredients to use ones that were either more sustainable, or added things we thought would be good for flavor,” Hullander says.

The creators don’t explain the reasoning behind the exact name, but say their goal is to continue creating products with funny names. A buffalo sauce named “Mark Rufallo” might be in the works.

“We’re more focused on bettering not just the environment, but people in general, and making people laugh,” Simmons says. “It’s a little bit more of a passion project, and just two well-intentioned kids trying to have a good time.”

Although the band still haven’t acknowledged the homage, we’re pretty certain they will approve the effort, seeing as all current band members are vegan and the band has been nominated for a fair share of PETA awards.

Dude Ranch, the brand, launches Jan. 17. You can check out more information about the brand and their future endeavors on Instagram:

Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge spark blink-182 reunion rumors

This Christmas blink -182’s Barker and former guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge sparked even more reunion rumors after the drummer gave his old band member a rather unconventional present.

DeLonge took to Instagram to share a photo with Barker, describing what he received and a perfect response.

“@travisbarker sent me a naked man pic for Christmas, no joke. And it actually made me laugh somethin’ fierce.”

If you gain nothing else from it, it’s further proof the two are still pretty close. Actually, in October 2018, DeLonge and Barker’s friendship caused quite a buzz when some tweet-based interactions made many believe DeLonge could be rejoining blink.

The really long and complicated story of DeLonge’s departure is well-documented. After a lot of back and forth, Hoppus and Barker announced Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba was joining the band. Since then, they went on a number of tours and released an album, 2016’s California.

However, DeLonge kept promising a blink-182 comeback over the years. In December 2017, the musician teased his return to the band, saying Barker contacted him for an interview and clarified that “yes Blinkies, we also talked a bit about other stuff.”

Not long after, Barker posted a picture that got people thinking he was in the studio with the guitarist. The image showed Tom DeLonge’s signature guitar, an ES-333.

Nothing else was said after and blink-182 are currently working on the successor of California with Skiba.

However, in October Barker shared a picture of the guitarist on Twitter with a cryptic caption quoting “I Miss You.”

At the time, it was unclear if Barker was teasing something or just making fun of his old band mate. But as if that wasn’t enough to set the internet ablaze, DeLonge replied with another line from the song.

While many had their fingers crossed for DeLonge’s return, TMZ later reported that the back and forth was merely a “playful Twitter exchange.”
