See what Mark Hoppus had to say about Tom DeLonge rejoining blink-182

Since coronavirus lockdown began, blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus has been doing quite a lot of livestreams on Twitch. Recently, he has been livestreaming to fans while playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This week, Hoppus answered some fan questions while playing the Nintendo game and spilled some secrets about blink-182‘s next album. He also shared what he knows about a possible blink-182 reunion with Tom DeLonge.

Both Hoppus and Travis Barker have been working on a number of different projects lately. A collaboration remix between Barker and Demi Lovato on her single “I Love Me” was released last week. As well, Barker recently appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden to perform with Machine Gun Kelly on his new single “Bloody Valentine.” Barker produced MGK’s forthcoming album, Tickets To My Downfall, that will be released this summer.

Last month, Hoppus’ collaboration with the Used on their recent song “The Lighthouse” was released. The track is featured on the Used‘s new album, Heartwork, that is out now.

Now, it appears Hoppus is back to focusing on blink-182 music. During his Animal Crossing livestream on Tuesday, Hoppus was asked if he had any upcoming plans to record new music soon. He revealed that blink-182 are already recording for their follow up to 2019’s NINE.

“I recorded literally yesterday so upcoming recording is already happening,” Hoppus says.

Hoppus also shared that the recording he is currently doing is strictly for blink-182. He is not recording anything for Simple Creatures, his musical project with All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth.

“It was new blink and not Simple Creatures or anything else,” he says.

Following this, Hoppus confirmed that there is a possibility the collaborations that were part of the NINE recording process, but were never released will be part of the next album. Back in April of this year, blink-182’s collaboration with Miley Cyrus on their song “I Really Wish I Hated You” leaked. The song was originally recorded for NINE, but the version without Cyrus’ vocals made the album.

As well, Hoppus touched on the topic of DeLonge rejoining blink-182. Earlier this month, the Angels & Airwaves vocalist shared that he plans to rejoin blink-182 when the time is right. He also revealed that he still talks to both Hoppus and Barker often.

However, when asked during his livestream if DeLonge is rejoining the band, Hoppus kept his response simple. He also didn’t elaborate on any details about the potential reunion.

“I don’t know,” he says.

Hoppus revealed various other details about blink-182 during his livestream including what type of bass he played on their 1997 album Dude Ranch, why they have a song called “Untitled” and more.

Some of the clips from the Animal Crossing livestream are available to watch below.
